TREE BREWING LAUNCHES SIGNATURE BREW IN ONTARIO
-- Hop Head Becomes the first IPA from a BC Craft Brewery to be Listed in the LCBO --
August 17, 2011 (Kelowna, BC) – Ontario Beer drinkers had their first taste of Tree Brewing’s Hop Head Double IPA a few months ago through the LCBO’s Spring Beer Promotion, and now they’re going to be able to enjoy it much more, as the Kelowna-based craft brewer is bringing its signature beer, Hop Head India Pale Ale (IPA) to Ontario LCBO’s starting this month. Ontario beer drinkers will now be able to enjoy the unique taste of the west coast in their own backyard. This award winning beer is the first west coast style IPA to be commercially produced in Canada.
“We are thrilled to be launching our signature beer in Ontario,” says Tree Brewing President Tod Melnyk. “Hop Head IPA is a full-bodied beer loaded with hops, with a distinct taste and aroma – a true west coast beer experience.
“When we first came to the LCBO with our Hop Head Double IPA in the spring, we had such great feedback, we’re sure that beer drinkers in that market are going to be adding us to their lineup when we arrive on shelves in early August,” continued Melnyk.
Tree’s Hop Head IPA boasts citrus aromas and sweet malt undertones with a slightly darker, copper colour and has 5.6% alcohol content. This strong hops taste pairs well with a flavourful meal or sweet dessert.
The Hop Head IPA will be available in six-pack bottles for $12.95 at Ontario LCBO locations. The beer will be distributed through North American Craft Agency, a small independent agency based in Toronto.
For 15 years Tree Brewing has produced some of the top beers in the country and has won numerous awards including two gold medals at the British Columbia Beer Awards in May and two gold medals in the 2010 at the Canadian Brewing Awards. Hop Head itself has been a Silver and Bronze Medalist at the Canadian Brewing Awards in 2008 and 2007 respectively.
